Urological Haemorrhage
Urological haemorrhage is bleeding involving the kidneys, bladder, prostate or other parts of the urinary system. It can occur after surgery, injury, tumours or vascular abnormalities.
Symptoms
Blood in the urine, clots, difficulty passing urine, side pain or signs of blood loss such as dizziness and weakness.
How interventional radiology treats it
When a specific bleeding vessel can be identified, selective embolisation may be used to stop the bleeding. A catheter is guided to the responsible artery and an embolic material is delivered. The treatment depends on the source and severity of bleeding. Emergency assessment is necessary for heavy bleeding or urinary blockage by clots.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
