Bone and Soft-Tissue Lesions
Bone and soft-tissue lesions are abnormal areas in bones, muscles or surrounding tissues. They may be benign, infectious or cancerous, so accurate diagnosis is important.
Symptoms
A lump, swelling, persistent pain, reduced movement or sometimes no symptoms. Features vary with the location and type of lesion.
How interventional radiology treats it
Image-guided biopsy uses ultrasound or CT to guide a needle into the lesion and collect tissue for testing. The result helps doctors determine the diagnosis and plan treatment. In selected cases, ablation or another image-guided procedure may be appropriate. Biopsy planning should be coordinated with the specialist team, particularly when a tumour is suspected.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
