Osteoid Osteoma

Osteoid osteoma is a small, usually benign bone tumour that commonly affects children and young adults. It can cause persistent pain despite its small size.

Symptoms

Localised bone pain, often worse at night and sometimes relieved by anti-inflammatory medicines. Tenderness may occur near the affected bone.

How interventional radiology treats it

CT-guided radiofrequency ablation places a thin probe into the tumour and uses heat to destroy it. CT guidance helps position the probe accurately while protecting nearby structures. Many patients experience substantial pain relief after treatment. The exact approach depends on the tumour's location and proximity to nerves or other sensitive tissues.

Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
