Selected Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain Conditions

Chronic musculoskeletal pain affects muscles, bones, joints or surrounding tissues and may persist for months. Causes include degenerative changes, inflammation, previous injury and certain structural abnormalities.

Symptoms

Ongoing pain, stiffness, tenderness and reduced ability to perform everyday activities. Symptoms depend on the affected area and underlying cause.

How interventional radiology treats it

Treatment is diagnosis-specific. Selected patients may benefit from image-guided injections, nerve blocks or ablation of targeted nerves. Imaging helps guide the needle or probe to the intended area. These procedures may reduce pain but do not necessarily correct the underlying condition. Physiotherapy, medication and rehabilitation may remain important parts of care.

Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
