Lung Tumours
Lung tumours are abnormal growths in the lung and may be benign or cancerous. Treatment depends on the tumour type, size, location and whether it has spread.
Symptoms
Persistent cough, breathlessness, chest pain, coughing blood, repeated chest infections or unexplained weight loss. Some tumours are found incidentally on scans.
How interventional radiology treats it
In selected patients, image-guided ablation uses a needle to destroy a tumour with heat or cold. A needle is placed through the chest wall under CT guidance. This may be considered for certain small tumours or when surgery is unsuitable. Other treatments, including surgery, radiation and systemic cancer therapy, may be needed depending on the diagnosis.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
