Lymph Node Metastases
Lymph node metastases occur when cancer cells spread from the original tumour to lymph nodes. The presence and location of affected nodes can influence cancer staging and treatment planning.
Symptoms
Enlarged lymph nodes or a lump may be noticed, but many affected nodes cause no symptoms. Symptoms depend on their location and the primary cancer.
How interventional radiology treats it
Image-guided biopsy uses a needle to obtain tissue from a suspicious lymph node for laboratory examination. In selected cases, image-guided ablation may be considered for specific lesions. The most appropriate treatment depends on the cancer type, the number and location of affected nodes, and the overall treatment plan.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
