Vascular Malformations and Pseudoaneurysms
Vascular malformations are abnormal vessel networks. A pseudoaneurysm is a contained leak from a damaged blood vessel, sometimes following an injury, surgery or arterial puncture.
Symptoms
A lump, swelling, pain, pulsation or bleeding. Some lesions cause no symptoms and are found during imaging.
How interventional radiology treats it
Treatment depends on the lesion. Embolisation can block abnormal vessels, ultrasound-guided thrombin injection can close selected pseudoaneurysms, and a stent graft can seal some arterial defects. Ultrasound and CT help plan treatment. Follow-up imaging confirms closure and assesses blood flow.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
