Liver Metastases
Liver metastases occur when cancer cells spread to the liver from another part of the body, such as the bowel, breast or lung. They differ from cancers that begin in the liver itself.
Symptoms
Some people have no symptoms. Others may experience fatigue, weight loss, abdominal discomfort, poor appetite or jaundice.
How interventional radiology treats it
Depending on the cancer and its extent, treatment may include ablation, chemoembolisation or radioembolisation. Ablation destroys selected tumours using heat or cold, while arterial therapies target the tumour's blood supply. Treatment is usually planned with the oncology team and may be combined with systemic therapy or surgery.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
