Renal Bleeding
Renal bleeding means bleeding from the kidney or its blood vessels. It may follow injury, biopsy, surgery or a kidney tumour. Some vascular lesions can also cause significant bleeding.
Symptoms
Blood in the urine, side pain, weakness, dizziness or low blood pressure if bleeding is substantial.
How interventional radiology treats it
Renal artery embolisation targets the specific blood vessel responsible for bleeding. A catheter is guided into the affected artery, and coils or another embolic material are used to stop the blood flow. This can control bleeding while preserving as much healthy kidney tissue as possible. Monitoring follows the procedure.
Whether this treatment suits you depends on your scans and overall health. A consultation is the first step.
